Deep garnet in color, this wine has a nose of black currant and caramel. Black cherry, cassis, mocha, butterscotch, violet and anisette flavors are wrapped in a sheath of opulent tannins that peel away to reveal a eucalyptus-infused finish.
Unlike the regular Gran Reserva, this 150th anniversary release contains no Cabernet Sauvignon, being made from a duo of Tempranillo and 5% Graciano. The oak is still a little too evident here, with wood smoke aromas, but the underlying wine is dense, compact and layered, all vibrant black cherry, aniseed and blackberry flavours. 2024-32
