Domaine de Montille Volnay 1er Cru En Champans 2019

The 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Les Champans offers up aromas of red berries, plums, warm spices and wilted rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, lively and unusually charming for a young wine from this site, its pretty core of fruit is framed by supple, melting tannins and bright animating acids.

This 0.96ha, domaine-owned parcel runs from the bottom to the top of the vineyard. Whole clusters are used only from the upper part and the wine is aged in 30% new casks, with extraction being particularly delicate, and it shows. There is a very silky texture and a lush, sumptuous dark fruit, with a spicy edge that dominates the wine.
