Vinha e preparação

Descrição
Vinhas a 570 metros acima do nível do mar.
Solo
Moderadamente profundos, com baixa fertilidade e boa presença de
cascalho e rochas.
Clima
O inverno frio e a primavera provocaram uma brotação lenta. As chuvas abundantes durante a estação de crescimento permitiram que a planta atingisse as condições necessárias para acumular uma grande quantidade de polifenóis e alcançar uma maturação perfeita. Por fim, as fortes mudanças de temperatura durante setembro e outubro potenciaram o componente fenólico de cada um dos vinhedos.
Vinificação
Fermentação durante 10 dias em cubas de inox troncocónicas e cubas de betão a baixas temperaturas (máx. 25 °C). Mais 15 dias de maceração.
Envelhecimento
30 meses em barricas de carvalho eslavo de 25 e 40 hectolitros, seguidos de mais 18 meses em garrafa.

The Wine Advocate:

The Poggio Antico 2019 Brunello di Montalcino has a pretty bouquet with a unique set of aromas that recall dried cherries with hints of rose potpourri or fragrant acacia wood. Those delicate floral notes give lift and energy to the bouquet. The only distraction is the 15% alcohol content. Otherwise, this wine is a good example of a classic vintage. Production is 37,800 bottles.

Jeb Dunnuck:

A bright red color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino is floral and aromatic of preserved strawberries, baby powder, and herbes de Provence. Medium-bodied, it has refined ripe tannins, even acidity, and a clean, stony textured finish. A lovely and charming wine, it’s drinking well now and will drink well over the coming 8-10 years.

James Suckling:

Lots of bark, mushroom and forest-flower aromas with crushed cherries. Complex. Medium body with lovely acid tension and a racy and pretty finish. Very fine tannins. Lots of energy here. Drink after 2025.

Decanter:

Crystalline and fragrant on the nose, smells welcoming. Smooth and sleek, lovely cool freshness from the first sip with energy and focus. I love the easy nature to this yet feels so polished at the same time. Feels careful and very approachable to like with touches of wet stone, cool blue fruit and a mineral finish. The acidity gives the tang while the fine tannins settle around the edges. Lovely.
