James Suckling:

This is bold, toasty and full of flavor, from cedar, crushed walnuts and coconut to plums, olives and paprika. It’s medium- to full-bodied with fine, powdery tannins. Tasty, cedary finish. Drink or hold.

Tim Atkin:

Comparatively low-lying vineyards in Curiel de Duero  and Peñafiel supply the grapes for this all-Valladolid Tinto Fino from Rafael Rubio. Sweetly wooded in new French oak, it's something of a crowd-pleasing style, with savoury tannins, some underlying structure and backbone, smoky oak and layers of plum and red berry  fruit. 2024-28
