Tiento 2015

The top of the range is the 2015 Tiento, a selection of the best Tempranillo, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec from their 15-year-old estate vineyards on granite soils in a given year. It fermented with indigenous yeasts, went through malolactic in new barriques and aged for 12 months in 300-liter French oak barrels, 40% of them new. 2015 is one of the few vintages when they used Malbec in the blend, so they used all the grapes they grow at the property. It feels quite classical, more in line with the 2017 Villalar that I also tasted next to it. It's integrated, polished and balanced, with a medium-bodied palate and good freshness. 2,800 bottles and 200 magnums were filled in August 2017.
