Muito floral, fresco e impecavelmente elaborado. Essas são as credenciais da colheita 2020, ainda na adega, do Château d'Aiguilhe, uma das apostas pessoais de Stephan von Neipperg. Esta nova colheita volta a ser a expressão fiel do singular terroir de Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux e, na opinião do crítico Jeb Dunnuck, «uma das joias valiosas» que 2020 deixará em Bordéus.

Vindima manual realizada de 17 a 28 de setembro de 2020 em pequenas caixas.
Vinificação
Seleção dos cachos antes e após a desengace. As uvas são colocadas em cubas de madeira por gravidade para completar o processo de fermentação a temperatura controlada durante 40 dias. Extração por perfuração pneumática do chapéu. Fermentação malolática em barrica.
Envelhecimento
De 15 a 18 meses em barricas de carvalho francês com as suas borras. 30% do vinho passa seu estágio em barricas novas.

Avaliação dos peritos

Decanter:

Violet reflections, great clarity of colour and immediate whoosh of salinity through the redcurrant fruits. Powerful and focused with bright berry flavours, it practically defines the term crunchy fruit, then softens to show creamier black cherry purée as it relaxes in the glass. Really a very tasty d'Aiguilhe from Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg. Extremely moreish. Harvest September 17– 28, 30% new oak. Drinking Window 2023-2034.

James Suckling:

Black cherry, black berry and orange peel with some cedar aromas, follow through to a medium body with fine and chalky tannins. Dried herb and bark undertones. Some salt, too. Drink or hold.

Jeb Dunnuck:

I loved the nose of the 2020 Château D'Aiguilhe, which is loaded with pure, clean cassis and raspberry-like fruits well as white flowers, crushed stone, and even a touch of blue fruits with time in the glass. It’s very floral, fresh, and medium-bodied and is impeccably made. It’s well worth seeking out and should be one of the value gems in the vintage.

The Wine Advocate:

Aromas of cassis, dark berries and cherries mingle with subtle hints of incense and spices in an inviting bouquet to introduce the 2020 d'Aiguilhe, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered wine with powdery tannins and the lively acids that are typical of this later-ripening, limestone-rich sector. Always a notable value, this age-worthy cuvée has turned out very well this year.
