A partir de uma parcela privilegiada em Elvillar, com vinhas com quase 70 anos, nasce o Artadi La Hoya, elaborado exclusivamente com Tempranillo, que se destaca no terroir de Álava. A própria adega define este tinto como «persistência e carícia constante».

Predominam as notas de anis e menta, juntamente com aromas de frutos de caroço, especiarias e tabaco fresco.
Boca
Apresenta uma tanicidade persistente, mas ao mesmo tempo fluida e envolvente. Amplo no ataque, longo no final.

Clima
O ciclo vegetativo da colheita de 2023 começou com um inverno seco, que deu lugar a uma primavera com variações térmicas significativas e pouca precipitação. O desenvolvimento vegetativo ocorreu em condições ideais, uma vez que as temperaturas foram favoráveis em momentos-chave, como a brotação e a floração. Após um verão muito quente, com temperaturas médias superiores a 30 ºC, as chuvas chegaram no início de setembro, cruciais para mitigar a seca na vinha. A vindima decorreu sem grandes contratempos e terminou em meados de setembro.

James Suckling:

Juicy, ripe, plummy fruit with a spicy wood touch and a hint of citrus. Assertive and fine-grained with medium to full body. Excellent tannins are nicely woven and integrated with the fruit. Long finish. La Hoya stands out in this challenging vintage. 95% tempranillo and 5% viura. Sand and silt soils on an east-facing slope. 3.3 hectares. From organically grown grapes. Drink from 2026.

The Wine Advocate:

The bottled version of the 2023 La Hoya feels quite serious and harmonious. It spent its first winter in 500- and 600-liter barrels and the second one in a 4,000-liter oak foudre. The nose is quite subtle and a little shy, with finesse. The top part of the plot is sandy, and the lower part has more silt; the combination gives the wine fruit and structure. It also has a lot of limestone and comes through as very balanced too. It's medium-bodied and really fine-boned. This is now showing much better than anticipated. 5,232 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2025. This and Carretil could be the highlights from the 2023s.

Situated on the site of an old lagoon, the La Hoya vineyard is a comparatively large, 3.3-hectare site in Elvillar that has a very high limestone component. Chalky, racy, dense and beautifully balanced, it’s a perfumed, focused Tempranillo with a sheen of subtle oak, lots of youthful energy and a tangy, almost mouth-watering finish. 2027-35
