The Wine Advocate:

After the soil study they did in 2018, they decided to vinify some plots separately, plots that had always shown a special and different personality, to produce the new 2018 Naluar El Espadón. One of the plots is on very stony soils with sand and limestone silt and produced grapes with thick skins and strong classical Ribera character, and another plot has more limestone clay, without stones, and produced a lifted wine; the two wines compensate each other but had to be fermented separately as the plots ripened at different times. The head-pruned vines are 25 years old and fermented with some stems followed by malolactic in tank and two winters in used 500-liter barrels. The wine is serious and elegant, insinuating and a little backward, still young and lively. It has integrated oak and a medium to full-bodied palate that is seamless and juicy, with a velvety mouthfeel and very fine tannins. I love it! 4,100 bottles were filled in April 2020. - Luis Gutiérrez.
