The Wine Advocate:

The 2021 Viñas Viejas de Soria comes from 35 plots in the village of Atauta that are planted with ungrafted Tempranillo and Albillo, and it fermented with 13% full clusters in open-top oak vats with 43 days of maceration. It matured in French oak barrels, 27% of them new, for 12 months. It's 14.51% alcohol. Not all wines show better in one given vintage, and in this case, I prefer the 2020 to this 2021, which still shows very young and a bit creamy and fruit-driven. It feels quite primary and reveals abundant, slightly dusty tannins. 6,900 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2022. - Luis Gutiérrez.

James Suckling:

Iodine, mussel and seashells on top of the fresh blackberries, blueberries and grilled herbs. The juicy, medium- to full-bodied palate unleashes a wealth of fine, dusty tannins before a long, blue-fruited finish. Long, really tight and mineral finish. Drink from 2025. - Zekun Shuai. Senior Editor.
