Nos situamos en Pauillac, una región especialmente apta para la producción de grandes vinos. La añada 2021 de Château Lafite Rothschild se elabora mayoritariamente con Cabernet sauvignon. En nariz ofrece los intensos sabores ahumados de la variedad estrella. Es un vino complejo y profundo pero a la vez encontramos un gran equilibrio, una vibrante acidez y unos taninos sedosos, típicos de Lafite.

Descrição
Château Lafite Rothschild está ubicado al norte de la denominación Pauillac, en el límite con Saint Estèphe.
El viñedo consta de tres áreas principales: las laderas que rodean al Château, la meseta de Carruades hacia el oeste y 4,5 hectáreas en la denominación Saint Estèphe.

Gravas mezcladas con arenas eólicas sobre un subsuelo calcáreo de origen terciario, de excelente drenaje y óptima exposición solar.
Vinificação
La fermentación alcohólica tiene lugar a una temperatura controlada con remontajes periódicos para extraer suavemente todos los compuestos fenólicos. El periodo de maceración dura unos 22 días.
Tras la fermentación maloláctica, los vinos son transferidos a barricas de roble francés. Lafite cuenta con su propia tonelería en Pauillac, la Tonelería de Domaines, que aporta un estilo único a sus vinos. Se cata el contenido de cada barrica y sólo los mejores son seleccionados para la mezcla final.

Crianza en barricas de roble francés durante 15 meses.

Polished and refined with a firm, fine and linear tannin structure. Harmonious. Perfumed violets, roses and subtle licorice. All in balance here, with precise layers of black fruit, minerals and pencil lead. Rather seamless. Firm, yet fine and sleek to the end. Very classy. Fine-velvet texture. 96% cabernet sauvignon, 3% merlot and 1% petit verdot.

To my palate, the 2021 Lafite Rothschild has emerged as the finest of the Pauillac first growths this year. Wafting from the glass with aromas of dark minty berries mingled with notions of iris, licorice and cigar box, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a velvety attack that segues into an elegantly dense and structured mid-palate that's nicely framed by sweet but abundant tannins, concluding with a long, penetrating finish.

Wine Enthusiast:

This wine is the essence of Bordeaux Cabernet. Dominated by this variety at 96%, it exudes tannins and black-currant fruits. Structure is all there, backed by acidity. It is a wine for serious aging. Drink at the earliest from 2028.

Falstaff:

Bright ruby. The nose is subtle and profound, initially very restrained, needing some time, but opening up with every minute, becoming increasingly floral, a noble perfume—never intrusive, yet with great complexity, mineral nuances, and rather bright fruit. The palate is straight and slender—what precision! The wine has plenty of structure, shows breed and finesse, highly elegant, with fine-grained, still youthful tannins and razor-sharp acidity. The fruit is crisp, perfectly ripe, and lingers long on the finish. This is a dancing, finely structured Lafite, very classic! 2030–2055+
