The obscure white Maturana Blanca, unrelated to the red Maturana, produced the impressive, aromatic, subtle, balanced and fresh 2016 Viña Pomal Vinos Singulares Maturana Blanca, which feels like an improvement over the 2014 I tasted last time, with better-integrated oak, moderate alcohol and great freshness. It's elegant, clean and very tasty. I need to taste more Maturana Blanca... This time, I liked it better than the Tempranillo Blanco. 1,200 bottles were filled in June 2017.
A unique white Rioja with an orange-blossom nose. Ripe and gentle, this has great balance and good length, in spite of the rather soft acidity. Drink now or in 2019.
