Este Grand Cru Classé é uma das propriedades mais antigas de Saint-Émilion, cujas origens remontam ao século XII. O château e a sua torre fortificada erguem-se sobre as vinhas situadas num extraordinário planalto calcário. Este terroir, considerado um dos melhores da região, produz sempre um vinho elegante, matizado, floral, subtil, brilhante, com um final longo e vibrante, ao mesmo tempo, e com um surpreendente toque iodado.

Planalto formado por argilas castanhas e vermelhas sobre calcários de Asteria, com terraços de argilas azuladas muito finas e calcárias.

Colheita
Vindima em que a casta Merlot foi colhida entre 10 e 19 de setembro e a Cabernet Franc no próprio dia 19 de setembro.
Vinificação
Enchimento das cubas por gravidade e uvas inteiras, sem esmagamento. Vinificação por parcela em cubas de betão de pequena capacidade.
Envelhecimento
Estágio tradicional sobre borras finas, parcialmente em barricas (50% novas) e parcialmente em grandes barricas de carvalho, durante 16 a 18 meses.

Avaliação dos peritos

Falstaff:

Deep, dark ruby-garnet color, opaque core, violet highlights, with a delicate lightening at the rim. Delicate notes of black forest berries, subtle herbal hints, underpinned by blackberry jam. Juicy, with a fresh structure, red heart cherries, fine tannins, a lively, stimulating style, with potential for further development.

James Suckling:

The balance of savory fruit with fine tannins is already so attractive. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins and a refined finish.

The Wine Advocate:

Notes of dark berries, cassis, spices and licorice, mingled with delicately oaky nuances, preface the 2025 Laroque. Medium- to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it’s built around a rich core of fruit that is framed by youthful, structured tannins and concludes with a taut, saline finish. While the bouquet shows a darker register, the palate remains fresh, lending the wine an elegant austerity that should integrate further with élevage.

Decanter:

Another great success and value pick for Laroque. Really aromatically complex. Ripe and pristine black bramble berries on the nose, perfumed and nicely fragrant. Lovely aromatic purity. Smooth and so silky, smooth, svelte as Laroque does so well. Mouthwatering with bright acidity but so juicy – strawberry and cherry with a hint of cranberry and soft accents of dried herbs liquorice and wet stones. Grippy but so charming even at this point. Tension with freshness, perfectly polished and friendly. A yield of 31hl/ha with varying yields depending on the terroir from 25-45hl/ha. 3.40pH.
