La Baixada é um vinho tinto do Priorat de Vinha Classificada elaborado por Álvaro Palacios principalmente com Garnacha e pequenas proporções de Garnacha branca a partir de uma única parcela classificada de 1,30 hectares. Esta colheita apresenta um perfil extremamente refinado e elegante.

Nariz
Nariz potente e terroso, com notas minerais e de frutos vermelhos e pretos.
Boca
Paladar refinado com taninos abundantes e finos. Em boca, a casta Garnacha destaca-se pela sua intensidade e vigor, com notas de groselha vermelha. Final longo e firme.
Temperatura de servir
Recomenda-se servir a 16 ºC.
Consumo
Ótimo até aproximadamente 2040, se conservado em boas condições. Recomendamos decantar.

Vinha localizada na localidade de Gratallops. Brotação a partir de 22 de março, floração a partir de 5 de junho e pintor a partir de 14 de julho.

Clima
Continental com influência mediterrânica. Nesta colheita, destaca-se a seca, com uma pluviometria de 250 litros entre novembro de 2022 e outubro de 2023. Durante os meses da primavera, apenas caíram 43 litros. Por este motivo, e pela primeira vez na história, foi necessário incluir técnicas precisas de irrigação em zonas com baixa absorção de água.
Colheita
Vindima realizada entre 8 e 10 de setembro.
Vinificação
Fermentado em cubas de carvalho com leveduras autóctones.
Envelhecimento
Maturado em barricas ovais de carvalho francês durante 13 meses, seguidos de mais dois meses em betão.
Engarrafamento
Em fevereiro de 2025.

Decanter:

A portion of the fruit from the 1.3ha La Baixada vineyard used to go into Finca Dofí, until the site achieved Vinya Classificada status in 2018. Tasting en primeur, this is just a little reduced on the nose, but in the mouth the Garnacha (with 5% Garnacha Blanca) sings with vivid, punchy redcurrant fruit. Finishes lightly dry. The essence of Priorat. I have always liked this wine, this vintage even more so.

The 2023 La Baixada wine is from a "vinya classificada" (a classified vineyard), one of the official single-vineyard categories of the Priorat appellation, 1.3 hectares of organically farmed vines on slopes in the village of Gratallops at 293 to 345 meters above sea level, mostly Garnacha with 5% Garnacha Blanca. It fermented in oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in oval French oak foudres for 13 months, followed by a further two months in concrete. It was bottled with 14.4% alcohol, a pH of 3.47 and 4.87 grams of acidity. The sample that I tasted unbottled last year was darker and earthier; this has kept a deeper color and a powerful and earthy nose but a more polished palate with abundant, fine-grained, slightly dusty tannins. This is definitely an earthier wine. 3,460 bottles were filled in February 2025. Luis Gutiérrez.

Tim Atkin:

Incredibly bright and floral; rose petals, violets, blood orange and raspberry fruits all mingle together here, over a base over fresh, juicy strawberry fruit. Utterly gorgeous Garnacha. Direct, firm and driven, but the aromatics are just something else. 2024-2034

James Suckling:

Minerals and blue and red berries on the nose. The tannins are firm but minerally etched, giving structure and verticality to a long, tight and stony finish. Slightly chewy. Drink from 2026.
