Descrição

O segundo vinho do Château l'Evangile partilha características semelhantes com o emblema da casa, mas com um período de estágio em barrica mais curto, em parte também em cimento, para conservar a sua juventude e poder ser apreciado mais cedo. Nas primeiras provas desta colheita de 2023, revelou-se perfumado com notas de chocolate preto e groselha, desdobrando em boca uma agradável mineralidade e um passo suave e acariciante, culminando num final especiade.

A entrega deste vinho está prevista entre os meses de setembro de 2025 e março de 2026.

Vinhas com certificação biológica desde 2021, localizadas a sudeste de Pomerol, sobre uma longa veia de cascalho, num enclave privilegiado, pois faz fronteira a norte com o Château Pétrus e a sul com o Cheval Blanc em Saint-Émilion, do qual apenas está separada por uma estrada secundária.

"Esta colheita de 2023 não foi uma corrida contra o relógio, mas uma corrida com o tempo". É assim que a Lafite, sede deste 'château', define de forma tão eloquente o desenrolar do ciclo na vinha, marcado pela alternância de longos períodos de chuva e ondas de calor.

James Suckling:

The depth of fruit and creamy tannin structure show the class and beauty of this wine. It’s rich in ever-so-polished tannins that caress every inch of your palate. Medium to full body. Lovely finish. 95% merlot and 5% cabernet franc.

Decanter:

Gorgeous aromatics, perfumed and lively, really scented and lifted on the nose - dark chocolate and blackcurrant. Bright and punchy, but soft and generous too, a gravel minerality to the tannins which give the structure and coats the mouth in a fine layer of powdery, chalkiness. It’s soft and caressing, not too high in acidity at all, the tannins quite present but a nice enveloping of the mouth. Smooth and suave, but not too firm. I like the balance here, soft hints of herbal Cabernet mint and liquorice leave a lasting impression. A touch spicy on the finish but this is really charming in a gentle and calm way. Great stuff. Acidity doesn't stick out, more a Left Bank style, still with tension in the middle - it has a backbone and keeps the focus but with a gentle expansion. Ageing 20% concrete tanks, 15% new oak. 3.8pH.

The Wine Advocate:

The 2023 Blason de l'Evangile is open and giving, bursting with aromas of sweet cherries, plums, licorice and orange zest. Medium-bodied, fleshy and charming, it will drink well on release.
