The Wine Advocate:

The second vintage from a mix of red and white grapes in Mondiarte in Labastida is the 2022 52-60, which feels perfumed, aromatic, extroverted and showy, with integrated oak and a fresh, vibrant and balanced palate. It was produced with Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha and also white grapes, Garnacha Blanca, Malvasía Riojana, Viura, etc., from small contiguous plots of 60-year-old vines on red sandstone soils farmed organically. The harvest was two weeks earlier than in 2021, in mid-September, in the warmest year they have ever experienced. The handpicked grapes were hand destemmed and fermented in small stainless steel vats and matured in a 1,100-liter oak foudre, where it underwent malolactic fermentation and 13 months of aging. It has good ripeness, 14.5% alcohol (1% more than last year), a pH of 3.68 and 4.8 grams of acidity, coming through as juicy and voluptuous but not heavy, keeping the poise and balance. It has abundant, fine-grained tannins that are going to need a little bit of time to get resolved. 1,407 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2022.

James Suckling:

A complex red with excellent depth, showing a touch of white pepper to the dark cherries, plums and minerals. Very integrated with fresh but chalky tannins. Extremely long, caressing and driven. From old vines in Labastida. A blend of tempranillo, graciano, garnacha and other varieties. Drink from 2026. Around 1,400 bottles.

Tim Atkin:

This is the second vintage of 52-60, sourced from the 0.6-hectare Mondiate vineyard in San Vicente de la Sonsierra. A field blend of mostly Tempranillo with Graciano, Garnacha Tinta, Garnacha Blanca, Malvasía and Viura, it has some of the firmness of the 2022 vintage, subtle oak spices from ageing in foudres, a line of chalky minerality, structured tannins and a core of bramble, blackberry and redcurrant fruit. 2027-35
