Elaborado com Mencía proveniente de uma parcela privilegiada de vinhas centenárias, o Ultreia Valtuille é o tinto com a produção mais limitada da gama. Sedoso, muito fino e perfumado. O terroir de solos argilosos e o clima continental com influência atlântica são percebidos com certa rusticidade no paladar.

Proveniente de um único vinhedo em Valtuille de Abajo com orientação sul.
Idade
Vinhedo centenário, plantado em 1908.
Solo
Argilo-calcário, mas a percentagem de areia é superior.
Clima
Atlântico-continental. É uma zona de transição entre o interior e a costa, pelo que as temperaturas são amenas.
Vinificação
A fermentação ocorre em foudres com macerações prolongadas e pouca extração. Simplesmente deixa-se a uva infundir no vinho, realizando um trabalho muito suave, molhando o chapéu.
Envelhecimento
Estágio de aproximadamente 5 meses em barricas de carvalho francês usadas e 6 meses em foudres de 1.000 litros.
Engarrafamento
Sem filtrar e sem clarificar.

The Wine Advocate:

The 2022 Ultreia Valtuille comes from different plots in the lieu-dit of Villegas. The wine has contained alcohol but has a roundness and a ripe sensation on the nose. They are using 25% foudres for the élevage here, and that percentage will be increased in the future. It has a medium to full-bodied palate with abundant, slightly dusty tannins. Some 4,800 bottles produced. (Luis Gutiérrez)

Tim Atkin:

Pretty floral aromas abound in the 2022 vintage of this wine. It comes from four different plots in the Villegas paraje and it is certainly representative of the zone. Violets and blackberry fruit give way to red pepper and cherry notes while the palate is voluptuous and voluminous even if tannins are a little rustic. There’s an earthiness to the wine, a ferrous character, which adds to the complexity. An appealing cola note on the finish. 2024-29.
