Muito apreciado e sempre entre os grandes, este Premier Grand Cru Classé destaca-se como um dos vinhos mais potentes e exuberantes de Bordéus. De acordo com a tonalidade da região, 2022 foi uma colheita cálida que resultou em uvas mais pequenas e mais concentradas, dando origem a um tinto de incrível riqueza sem perder a elegância suprema e a expressão intensa do seu terroir de origem.

Como em cada colheita, a parte superior do rótulo da garrafa apresentará uma ilustração artística que só será revelada a 1 de dezembro de 2024. 

A entrega deste vinho está prevista para o segundo semestre de 2025.

A adega afirma que este Château Mouton Rothschild 2022 é tão luminoso como foi o ano. Intenso desde o início, revela aromas concentrados de fruta preta fresca e totalmente madura, com notas de groselha preta e amora subtilmente sublinhadas por sugestões de grafite e grãos de cacau.
Boca
Um vinho de profundidade infinita, encorpado, generoso, cremoso, suave e com grande pureza. Sensações de madeira de cedro, especiarias e pimenta branca complementam a variedade. A complexidade, o sabor e os taninos, com o seu delicado toque de alcaçuz, parecem infinitos.
Temperatura de servir
É recomendado servi-lo a 16 ºC.

Vinha e preparação

Descrição
Vinhas plantadas em montículos (daí o nome do 'château') numa estreita faixa de 80 quilómetros de comprimento e 5 a 10 quilómetros de largura, perto do rio Gironde, que proporciona reservas de água profundas. A norte, a propriedade é delimitada pela floresta das Landes, que funciona como uma barreira protetora, atenuando as temperaturas, que são também mais moderadas devido à influência do rio.
Solo
Fina, pobre e cascalhento, constituído por gravilha, pedras e seixos que retêm o calor do sol, misturados com areia e argila.
Clima
2022 foi um ano ameno e seco desde o início. O tempo soalheiro prevaleceu durante todo o ciclo vegetativo da vinha, acompanhado por várias ondas de calor. A precipitação foi escassa desde a primavera até ao final da vindima, com exceção de dois episódios de precipitação notável, em abril e o mais forte em junho, que repuseram as reservas de água no solo. As videiras souberam regular o seu abastecimento de água e demonstraram uma grande capacidade de adaptação às condições climáticas excepcionais da vindima. Nestas condições calorosas e secas, a floração teve lugar 10 dias mais cedo do que a média e, embora rápida, foi perfeitamente uniforme. A progressão do ciclo vegetativo prolongou-se até à vindima, tendo as uvas amadurecido de forma regular e em condições ideais.
Colheita
Vindima manual de 1 a 26 de setembro. A vindima apresentou-se em perfeito estado sanitário. Embora o tempo quente tenha feito com que as uvas fossem bastante pequenas, ofereceram um grau de concentração e equilíbrio que raramente se encontra.
Envelhecimento
100% barricas novas.

Wow. The aromas here are so complete with blackcurrants, asphalt, violets, lead pencil, orange blossoms and black truffles. A perfect nose. It's full-bodied yet tied down with seamless tannins that run the length of the wine and give such a seductive mouthfeel and persistence. A vintage with one of the highest percentages of cabernet sauvignon ever. Quintessential, great Bordeaux with no limits. Drink after 2028.

Moving to the flagship, the 2022 Château Mouton Rothschild is a massive, full-bodied, incredibly powerful 2022 that takes no prisoners with its ripe black and blue fruits, chocolate, graphite, and smoked tobacco-driven aromas and flavors. Deep, unctuous, and concentrated, with velvety tannins, this legendary Mouton is based on 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot that's still resting in new barrel. It will unquestionably play with the top wines in the vintage. Harvest here began the 1st of September and finished on the 26th, and the final wine hit 14% natural alcohol, with a pH of 3.89 and an IPT of 76.

Decanter:

One of my favourite 2022s, technically very brilliant but it’s the texture that wows, generous, fruity, sleek, supple, it gives stone and graphite touches putting the terroir in the glass and overall this just screams elegance and finesse and above all drinkability! Smooth and shiny, silky, sleek, delicious from the first sip. Mouthwatering acidity combined with tannins that have the perfect balance of flinty grip, fleshy fruit and cool minerality. Certainly not shouting, they haven't pushed too far at all, more restrained and refined while still delivering a gorgeous mouthful of wine. Classy and refreshing. Concentrated but clean, pure and vibrant. Wonderful, magical - giving the concentration of the hot vintage which is want you want, but this is moreish and so succulent. One you'll want to finish the glass and then have more immediately. 16.4% press - 4% above normal, usually at 12-13%. 49% grand vin. 3.89pH. 76 IPT. Aged 100% in new barrels. 98-100 points. 

The Wine Advocate:

The 2022 Mouton Rothschild is one of the most muscular, almost brutally powerful wines of the vintage. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of dark berries, plums and sweet crème de cassis mingled with notions of espresso roast, pencil lead and petroleum jelly, it's full-bodied, dense and concentrated, with huge reserves of tannin and fruit. A blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot that represents 49% of the estate's production, this is a prodigious Mouton that's built for the cellar.
